Cotton Country
Pakistan has earned its
name as THE COTTON COUNTRY due to the fact that it exports more cotton
to the world than any other country. Pakistan is fourth largest cotton
growers in the world. Availability of large quantity (around 10 million
bales per annum) of good quality is the basis of the development and
sustenance of the local Textile Industry. During the year 2000-2001
Pakistan exported cotton worth US$139.2 million to the world. We
exported US$1.073 billion worth of yarn to the world in the year
2000-2001.
